October 26-30

It’s hard to believe that the end of October is already here! These past 2 months have flown by!

We had a very busy and fun week in room 6. On Monday we created artwork to go with
"5 Little Pumpkins” and made Pumpkin Pie in a Bag. The Pumpkin Pie in a bag was delicious. It was fun and easy to make and was very tasty.

On Tuesday, we created our own Haunted Houses. The creativity was all about in the room! A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Buckley and Mrs. Carlton for helping us with our projects.

On Wednesday we watched the movie “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” This was a great Halloween movie that taught a lesson of acceptance. You can visit the website for coloring pages and lots more! Spookley.com We also read the story of” Goodnight Goon” and created our own monsters with our hands to go along with the story.

On Thursday we decorated our haunted houses with spider webs, spiders and spooky Halloween pieces. Thank you to all the parents for your donations! We also learned our sight word “like” and created necklaces to help us learn our new word.

Friday’s Halloween parade and party were a huge success! The kids looked great in their costumes! We had a blast making Witches’ Hands with popcorn, decorating frames, icing cookies and making ghost pops! Thank you to all the many families who donated for the party. We were overwhelmed with all of you generosity! We would also like to thank Mrs. Carlton, Mrs. Buckley, Ms.Estes And Mr. Kuzlotsky for their help with our party.

October 19-23

This week we learned about bats and other nocturnal animals. We also discovered how a pumpkin grows and what it looks like on the inside. We made a lifecycle bracelet of the pumpkin and estimated the circumference of our classroom pumpkin. On Thursday, we cleaned our pumpkin out and separated the seeds. On Friday, we tasted the pumpkin seeds and discovered how yummy they were and agreed that it was worth cleaning out the pumpkin the day before.

Classroom Quilt

October 5-9th

We had a fantastic time on our apple picking fieldtrip . We had perfect weather for our day! We enjoyed a hayride to the apple orchards where we got to pick 5 apples and 1 to eat. The apples were very yummy! We were then off to pick our pumpkins. After a quick bite for lunch, it was off to the hay maze and to feed the rabbits. A HUGE thanks you to our wonderful chaperones!

At the end of the week we were able to put together our classroom quilt. The effort that went in to making all the squares is incredible. We have it displayed in our hallway for all to see for the next few weeks and then we will move it into our classroom for the year.

Sep. 28-Oct.2

Fall seems to be settling in. We have been watching the tree on the playground turn to magnificent shades of orange and golden colors.

This week we worked on the letters N, C, and K. We also learned the site word “my” and color word “green”. We loved learning our new Heidi’s Songs for both words. Be sure to ask your kids to sing you some of the songs!

We also have been learning a lot about apples this week to get ready for our apple picking field trip on Tuesday to Parlee Farms. On Friday, we made some delicious applesauce in the crock-pot. Our room smelled amazing and the final product was delicious and earned a “2 thumbs up”!

CROCK POT APPLESAUCE

Math journals were also introduced this week. Students will continue to work in their math journals for the year and practice illustrating simple math problems to reinforce math lessons.

Please continue to READ…READ…. READ and be sure to color in your reading log!

I encourage you to look through the different pages on our website and check out the resources. Please let me know if you have any resources that you feel might be beneficial to other families. I’ll be happy to add it.

Have a great weekend!
