WELCOME to the 2010/2011 year!

Welcome to the 2010/2011 school year! The summer has flown by and it’s hard to believe that we are already here. Soon I will be in our classroom setting up for our school year. Shortly, I will be sending each of you a letter and nametag for your child to wear on the first day of school.

We will have our open house on Tuesday, August 31st. At this time, boys and girls will be able to explore our classroom and find their cubbies, bins, and mailboxes. I will give a brief overview of our kindergarten program and procedures and will be able to answer any questions. I will also have transportation forms to be filled out, so that I can have bus & parent pick-up tags ready for the first day of school. You can check the Methuen School Bus Routes here: Bus Routes Info.
I’ll also be sending home lots of important papers to fill out and read over.

I will be working on our classroom website and updating it over the next few weeks. Please check out the different sections to learn more about kindergarten and our room. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail. leburns@methuen.k12.ma.us

See you soon!
Mrs. Burns

P.S. Basic school supplies will be supplied for your child. They will need a backpack big enough to fit a binder and with NO wheels. You may want to pick-up some basic supplies to keep at home for their homework. (pencils, scissors, glue-sticks, and CRAYONS). During open house we will have a wish tree for those of you who would like to donate needed items to our classroom. Below is a list of some things we will be in need of.

· Large and small paper plates (the plain thin kind)
· Plastic forks, spoons and knives
· Paper towels
· Tissues
· Glue sticks (we go through hundreds during the school year!)
· Sponges
· Mr. Clean magic eraser sponges

· Small cheap toys, pencils, stickers etc. for our prize box (party favors, new McDonald’s Toys, etc…)
· 4 x 6 photo paper
· Men’s shaving Cream
· Plastic zip-lock bags: sandwich size & 2 gallon size
