Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Trees

Name Creations

Last week of September

Another great week!  We read the story of "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and it quickly became a favorite.  On Thursday we started our Apple unit.  Our first book was a Dr.Seuss favorite, "10 Apple up on Top".  The kids worked on a page for a class book and posed for pictures with apples up on their heads.  Too cute!

This week we also met Officer Mambro, our school safety officer.  He spoke to our class about school lock downs and the importance of staying safe. On Friday, the students practiced their first lock down with the school.  The kids did super and were very quite.

As October begins, we will be starting weekly homework folders.  Please encourage your kids to do their very best.  Homework should only take a few moments each night.  We will also begin "Star of the Day".  Each day a new student will be chosen and will be our calendar helper for the day and our line leader.  The following day they may bring in a show and tell.

Friday is our fieldtrip to Parlee Farms.  Please make sure your child wears comfortable sneackers.  We will be walking down a small hill to the pumpkins with pumpkin vines and it can also be muddy at times. The kids will be able to go on a small hay ride, pick apples and a small pumpkin, feed some of the animals and explore on the small hay maze.

Super Fantastic Great Start!

We are off to a wonderful school year!  I am thrilled with the amount of progress the kids have already made!  The students have already become very independent in our everyday routines.

This past week we worked on our names and learned that we only use 1 uppercase for our names. We made our names out of torn paper to decorate our classroom.  On Friday we looked at the letters in the alphabet to see which ones were on our names.  We also began to explore with the name tubes to find our names.  During this next, we will begin to explore more about our friend's names too.

In the next few weeks we will be loking all of the letters and sounds and working in our writing journals.    We will also be starting our science unit on Apples.

Homework folders will begin on October 1st.

What a great open house!

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to make it to our open house!  It was wonderful to get to meet so many of you.  I appreciate all of your help and support in helping to get your child's transportation in order.

I also would like to remind families that our class and lunch table are "nut free".  Food needs to be in an original container or you can send in the ingredient label from the box.
