Fall Trees

The leaves fall off the trees.

Fantastic field-trip!

Wow!  The kids had a blast last Wednesday on the field-trip.  I think many of them enjoyed the school bus ride, just as much as the apple orchard! Our class was all smiles and laughing the entire trip to Parlee Farms.

The kids enjoyed a hay ride to pick their own apples, a walk down into the pumpkin fields, a picnic lunch, a chance to feed the bunnies and goats and a wild time running around the hay maze.

The class was wonderful and seemed to have a great time.  A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Gauthier for chaperoning!

Great First Day!

Wow!  What a great first day we had.  The kids were excited for school and had a blast making new friends.  We quickly settled into learning about the school routines of going to the bathroom, practicing our fire drills and talking about practice lock-downs.

On Monday we will be talking about school and classroom rules and starting our clip chart.   The kids will be able to clip up or down based on their behavior choices throughout the day.  Children who make good choices throughout the day will be able to get a "star punch" on their behavior card.  After 10 punches, they will be able to choose a prize from the prize box.  I have had great success in using this program over the past 3 year and look forward to using it again.  The kids are able to take pride in making good choices and many kids turn their behavior around after clipping down and are able to clip back up.

We will also be starting our B.E.A.R. binders on Monday.  Please make sure to check the communication section and folder each and every night.

Please feel free to e-mail me at any point.  I am working on trying to get into my phone messages currently and setting it up for my voice mail.  If you need to reach me by phone, please call the lower school office.  Hopefully I will be able to gain access shortly.

Welcome to the 2013/2014 School Year!

Welcome to the 2013/2014 school year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  It's so hard to believe that the school year is already upon us.  (and so exciting!)

This year, I have moved 3 classrooms down to room 3.  I have been in and out this week working on setting everything up.

We will have the fabulous Mrs. Stehm this year working with our class and Mrs. Delano's class.

Open house is scheduled for Thursday, September 5th at 1:00.  This is a great chance to come checkout the classroom before the 1st day of school.  I will also be working with parents on filling out transportation forms, so I can have everything ready for Friday.  It will be VERY helpful for parents to know bus routes and stops ahead of time.  Parent pick-up numbers will be available in the office.  If you will be picking up your child, you will need to have the number card every day.

The only items your child will need for school is a lunch box and a backpack.  The backpack needs to be big enough to hold a binder and should not have any wheels.  (they are not safe on the stairs and we don't have the room in our small cubbies)  If you would like to donate any items to our classroom, I will have a wish tree on the day of our open house.  Some of the items that are always needed and very appreciated are:

Ziplock baggies-sandwich, gallon and 2 gallon
Glue- Large glue sticks, white glue, and tacky glue
Shaving Cream
Large paper plates (cheap plain paper kind)
Wood Pieces-scraps or other (as long as it's smooth)
old magazines
milk caps
